Some 1899 Mercedes

Thanks bro. If you want me to take this down, I’ll do it the second I see your message.

Honda Accord V6. Comfy, cheap and a rocket ship compared to many cars then and now.
![]() 01/13/2016 at 14:31 |
|
With an unlimited budget, what would you buy?
![]() 01/13/2016 at 14:34 |
|
I feel like this is the right choice
![]() 01/13/2016 at 14:34 |

If you post anything other than a Nissan Stagea 260RS, then you are wrong and I hate you.
Why wouldn’t you want what’s basically an R33 Skyline GT-R wagon?
![]() 01/13/2016 at 14:37 |

All damn day.
![]() 01/13/2016 at 14:38 |

oh definitely peak 90's:
1999 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am WS6 30th Anniversary Edition with specialty blue rims
![]() 01/13/2016 at 14:38 |
|
Probably an E38 740i M-Sport Pack. Black over black.
![]() 01/13/2016 at 14:39 |
|
Ooooh. Reminds me. I saw one of these at a Whole Foods. Just put that stuff on a Viper and be so awesome.
![]() 01/13/2016 at 14:39 |
|
This, but Quad cab short bed. Because V10.
![]() 01/13/2016 at 14:39 |
|
The same thing I bought in 2001.
Zero regrets!
![]() 01/13/2016 at 14:39 |
|
Dakota R/T. Because the idea of having a small truck with a 5.9L V8 is just awesome
![]() 01/13/2016 at 14:40 |
|
F*** you man, you made my underwear sticky.
![]() 01/13/2016 at 14:41 |

99 Benz SL600 because it’s honestly IMO the best looking generation of that car and because v12
Like just look at it. It's beautiful.

No worries on taking it down this is a game for everyone to use! All I ask is you include my post at the bottom. If you notice all my posts (and other peoples) have the previous post in it so people have a quick link to get to the last game if they missed it. Which you did so you’re already on top of things!
As for cars to pick from 99...
The Shelby Series One. Little ugly but it is way too unique not to have in my 100 year garage
![]() 01/13/2016 at 14:42 |

Lotus Esprit V8
![]() 01/13/2016 at 14:44 |

Reminds me of this
I have seen one in person. IN BROWN. It looks.... stupid?
![]() 01/13/2016 at 14:44 |
|
![]() 01/13/2016 at 14:45 |
|
My car! Really though no way, absolutely not - I’ll take an Esprit V8 please.
![]() 01/13/2016 at 14:45 |
|
Budget is not a problem
Lets pretend I’m a billionaire, and that I feel like trolling myself and everyone around me. It has to be a CLK-GTR. These were supposedly still being built built in 1999, so it qualifies. Will bonus points be rewarded for the roadster version?
![]() 01/13/2016 at 14:46 |
|
I’d do weird things with that.
![]() 01/13/2016 at 14:47 |
|
When you say little ugly you mean not ugly at all because Shelby
![]() 01/13/2016 at 14:48 |
|
You are the second person to say Esprit V8 lol
![]() 01/13/2016 at 14:49 |
|
![]() 01/13/2016 at 14:49 |

I’ve driven one! The college I went to had one and we had to use it as our mail van one day when our regular van was in the shop.
Other than sounding a little different, it was pretty much like driving a V8 one.

Citroën Xantia V6 Activa.
With its active suspension it could outrun everything its age (Ferrari/Porsche/...) included) in a slalom, yet it provided suppreme comfort and practicality when you needed it.
![]() 01/13/2016 at 14:52 |
|
Hahah aw I didn’t notice! They are so captivating. My backup would be an E39 M5
![]() 01/13/2016 at 14:52 |
|
I would (and did) run to the Honda store and pick up an S2000. Good times!
![]() 01/13/2016 at 14:53 |
|
That looks ugly. No offense, but it looks blander than a grey piece of paper.
![]() 01/13/2016 at 14:53 |
|
Probably a Supra Turbo with the T-Tops.
![]() 01/13/2016 at 14:53 |
|
1999 Formula Firehawk with 6-speed manual. LS1 FTW
![]() 01/13/2016 at 14:53 |

2nd in 2 MINUTES
![]() 01/13/2016 at 14:54 |

I think that’s a 300ZX TT lol. But I’ll take on of those too!
![]() 01/13/2016 at 14:54 |
|
UGH you took my #1. So of course I posted it anyway. Great minds think alike.
![]() 01/13/2016 at 14:55 |
|
Yet you suggested a Mitsubishi 3000GT...
![]() 01/13/2016 at 14:55 |
|
Type S looks better. I wish Honda made something like a S2000-R, like they did with the NSX
![]() 01/13/2016 at 14:56 |
|
You mean a open-air burnout machine?
![]() 01/13/2016 at 14:57 |
|
Which looks good. Are you telling me I have bad taste?
![]() 01/13/2016 at 14:58 |

BMW 323ti Compact. The last year for the E36 Compact.
![]() 01/13/2016 at 14:58 |
|
Yes! Although mine would be blue with white racing strips
![]() 01/13/2016 at 14:58 |
|
So weird, it loses a spoiler....
And I just saw a 300ZX TT the other day!
![]() 01/13/2016 at 14:59 |
|
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess.
With the Mitsubishi in that picture above I’d request the following accessory.
![]() 01/13/2016 at 14:59 |
|
Because wagons suck! There I said it... Feels good to get that off my chest
![]() 01/13/2016 at 15:00 |
|
How could I forget about this! OMG we have a winner!
![]() 01/13/2016 at 15:00 |
|
And yet I have never seen one IRL

MontegoMan has you beat
![]() 01/13/2016 at 15:01 |
|
Did these have the crappy ABC suspension?
![]() 01/13/2016 at 15:01 |
|
i’d take blue with orange stripes and a white circle.
![]() 01/13/2016 at 15:02 |
|
The engine in those things were so neutered, the 4.7L was almost a better performer. It was really sad. With some work they could wake up, but by then you still had a Dakota.
I like sport trucks. I was a fan, but the idea of and execution of the Dakota R/T were two very different things.
![]() 01/13/2016 at 15:02 |
|
Is that a Mercedes with tinted windows? Are you a rapist?
![]() 01/13/2016 at 15:04 |
|
Can’t argue with that. Damn good color combo
![]() 01/13/2016 at 15:06 |
|
PT Cruiser, wood panels.
![]() 01/13/2016 at 15:07 |
|
Obvious answer is obvious:
1999 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4
![]() 01/13/2016 at 15:11 |
|
I need room for my cowboy hat.
![]() 01/13/2016 at 15:14 |
|
They’re not tinted. It’s just the camera angle and the lighting. It’s a C-Class AMG.
![]() 01/13/2016 at 15:14 |
|
No way. That spoiler looks so out of place on the S2000's otherwise clean and minimalist lines.
![]() 01/13/2016 at 15:15 |
|
we didn’t get the Supra for the 1999 model year.
![]() 01/13/2016 at 15:20 |
|
OK, that just ruined it.
![]() 01/13/2016 at 15:21 |
|
A BMW 840Ci, with the 6 speed
![]() 01/13/2016 at 15:22 |
|
![]() 01/13/2016 at 15:22 |
|
Tell me about it
![]() 01/13/2016 at 15:26 |
|
I would go to bmw and ask for one of everything:
![]() 01/13/2016 at 15:27 |
|
they never made those with a 6 speed
![]() 01/13/2016 at 15:28 |
|
C70 in saffron, 406 in red, preferably.
![]() 01/13/2016 at 15:28 |
|
It’s just a cheap & underpowered M1
![]() 01/13/2016 at 15:29 |
|
I was thinking E39 M5, but 99' was the changeover year for the M5. So instead an E38 750
![]() 01/13/2016 at 15:30 |
|
E31 850Ci
![]() 01/13/2016 at 15:31 |

![]() 01/13/2016 at 15:33 |
|
You did say unlimited budget, right? Zonda C12
![]() 01/13/2016 at 15:35 |
|
They did... but man... V12. The 500s didn't.
![]() 01/13/2016 at 15:37 |
|
oh this was a great answer as well. I freaking LOVE these cars. I’ve just always, always loved the rawness/ridiculousness of the WS6.
and if you guys would TAG the posts it would be a hell of a lot easier than clicking back through links. Come on man.
![]() 01/13/2016 at 15:38 |
|
I’m with you.
I hate non big-3 cars and I’ve always had just this little bit of liking for the 3000gt, it was just so crazy
![]() 01/13/2016 at 15:51 |
|
Let’s assume the same budget I have today, otherwise things would get out of hand.
1999 BMW M Coupe, no need for the S54. Already have one car with it
![]() 01/13/2016 at 15:52 |
|
Civic Si
![]() 01/13/2016 at 16:02 |
|
I’d have a Mercedes S73 AMG. The only ones actually made were ‘95 model year cars(if I remember correctly), but they were built on order, so I figure I could get one.
![]() 01/13/2016 at 16:03 |
|
you suck.
![]() 01/13/2016 at 16:11 |
|
I'm with you here . Hydropnumatic suspension is awesome. It's amazing how flat my 5000 lb S600 corners at speed. And it's still magic carpet smooth.
![]() 01/13/2016 at 16:15 |
|
This doesn’t just have hydropneumatic suspension though. The Activa version has extra spheres killing body roll.
(No, I don’t understand a word either)
![]() 01/13/2016 at 16:16 |
|
![]() 01/13/2016 at 16:21 |
|
Not even in Europe? I was pretty sure you could get the V8 and the manual
![]() 01/13/2016 at 16:22 |
|
I don’t really see how it’s an M1, I just think it’s gorgeous, and the V8 is a much better and lighter engine than the V12
![]() 01/13/2016 at 16:24 |
|
in Europe yea America no
![]() 01/13/2016 at 16:56 |
|
I want to see this color combo on the new GT at the Sebring race
![]() 01/13/2016 at 16:57 |
|
Ugh ABC ruins everything
![]() 01/13/2016 at 16:58 |
|
Give me a good tag and I will go back and change them! I can’t think of a catchy tag
![]() 01/13/2016 at 17:31 |
|
Mercedes S Class or Ford Excursion, both these vehicles were introduced in 1999 as refreshed and new models respectively. Ford Excursion was practically the biggest SUV and would have gotten plenty of use, diesel engine of course. And the S Class, well it’s an S Class Tavarish knows it’s still magnificent to drive to this day.
![]() 01/13/2016 at 17:42 |
|
Yes, any of the big Cits from that era are on my list of must-have-someday...modern enough to be anonymous yet esoteric enough to be special...I’d have a Xantia wagon although I’m not sure if those came with the Activa package...
![]() 01/13/2016 at 17:51 |
|
Well he did just say new in ‘99, didn't have to be North America
![]() 01/13/2016 at 17:59 |
|
Agreed. Even that factory Club Sport looks silly to me. I prefer some of the Mugen and Spoon versions. Anyone remember the wide-body Le Mans version available in Gran Turismo? That was fun.
![]() 01/13/2016 at 18:35 |
|
I’d get a Toyota Mark II and have a luxurious 4-door Supra.
![]() 01/13/2016 at 19:29 |
|
Are you in America? If so you wouldn't be able to buy one in amerixa
![]() 01/13/2016 at 19:57 |
|
I’m in Canada, but that’s beside the point. The question was what car would you buy new, in 1_99, not what car would you buy new in 1_99 in your home market
![]() 01/13/2016 at 21:39 |
|
Well that’s a craptastic year to have to buy a car. Late ‘90s, early ‘00s is the worst. :(
That said, NSX. Because it still had its original face and not that fugly 2002 faceilift.
![]() 01/14/2016 at 03:11 |
|
Lada Samara
![]() 01/14/2016 at 09:12 |
|
It doesn’t have to be catchy, just functional.
But you could go with What Would You Buy When and also include WWYBW (separate with commas)
![]() 01/14/2016 at 09:19 |
|
Well your recommendation was used. Now there is a neat and useful list on all my WWYBW posts.
![]() 01/14/2016 at 09:25 |
|
WOOHOO
Meta tags are kind of my thing.
![]() 01/14/2016 at 10:26 |
|
Doesn’t look like a Supra. Just looks JDM.
![]() 01/14/2016 at 10:26 |
|
Really? No Zonda for you? Wow.
![]() 01/14/2016 at 10:28 |

I think everyone does. But the spoiler on the GT, when raised, looks extremely awkward. Maybe even ugly.
OK, definitely ugly. But with it down, it looks sleek and sexy.
